Conquering Ankylosing Spondylitis and other Autoimmune Disorders. A simple safe treatment that works without the need for drugs. Also deals with other alternative treatments as they come to light.
Just want to say thank you for writing this blog. I'm just beginning my own journey into no/low starch diet for AS and I find your proactive approach to health inspiring.
If you want to do the no starch thing, then head to kickas.org and look for the NSD sub forum. Don't be afraid to ask questions as folks there are lovely.
Another route might be to go Paleo, and then just reduce/remove the small number of starchy foods. Paleo is mostly compatible and there are lots of recipes. No need to be meat heavy either.
Thanks so much for this blog.I have been on my own crazy journey and discovery to battle sacroilitis. I have made so much progress but still trying to detect all the triggers. Rice was the number one nemesis for me, but there are still so much more discovery to solve this cryptic disease. Will be delving into kickas to find out more. Thanks again.
Hi Yitz, Sorry for the huge delay getting back to you. Hope you have gone and checked out kickas.org and had a browse of the NSD sub-forum there. The people there are super helpful :)
Hi Zark! I really appreciate all the posts you have made on here. It has been a while since you have updated anything about your battle with AS. I am curious as to how you are doing. From your august 2015 update to your November 2014 Natto post, the Natto treatment you did seemed to keep you in remission for a long time, and open the door for you to eat more mildly starchy foods. How has your AS changed since? Still in remission? Any other advice now that you have been at this for longer?
First off, I really like the material in your blog. Having been recently diagnosed, you really have to slog through tons of stuff on the internet to get good information. I am wondering how you are doing currently. You mentioned that after you ate Natto for a bit, you were able to maintain remission an start eating some starchy foods. You seemed a bit apprehensive as to whether or not this effect would last. You last posted in June 2016 that your AS was almost non-existent still. How is it now (~1.5 years since you first posted about Natto)? Have you had to continue eating it? How has you ability to eat starchier foods been (I ask because they are pretty essential to keeping a healthy microbiota). Are their Bacillus Substilis Natto probiotics that you recommend?
Thank you for documenting and sharing your journey
HI, thank you for the detailed posts. i hope you are still in remission.
i am 28 i have had AS for the past 5 years. looking back i can remember having it since i was approx. 16 so fit the mould pretty well.
i initially started a NSD in 2015 which helped but slowly revert back to cheating at times as i love food!! but i definitely believe in the diet. i maintain a healthy lifestyle and practice yoga when not in a flare.
i had read about NATTO powder and have found some powder on amazon. what i wanted to ask was dosage and how you take it?
Hello Zark! I just checked in to see what is happening in your life and WOW lots has happened! Im so glad for you! Do you think that ordinary natto from a store might work as well as your homemade? Do you eat it every day?
I remember that you got remission once from eating brusselsprouts and once from eating a kind of wheat bran that had bigger particles, do you remember this? I was coming here to check what the bran was called. Could you help me? I can't find the info on it on your page now.
